A good place to find more help desk software (both commercial and O.S.) is http://www.capterra.com/help-desk-software, a free online directory from Capterra. There’s about 150 products listed there.

Scriptlogic’s help desk software http://www.scriptlogic.com/products/bridgetrak works pretty good for us.
We had a chance to test about a dozen or even more of different helpdesk tools but only this one was able to suit all our needs.
The tool is very powerful, intuitive, easy to install and to use and the price is did not drain our budget. Hope this was useful.

In addition to building distros, rPath builds, and supplies tools for building, virtual appliances — preconfigured virtual machines.

Thanks for the comment, John. rPath seemed like a distro-builder from a quick perusal of their site, but I included it anyway as I have seen it referenced alongside VM software.

And thanks for the link to those forums, I’ll have to check them out soon.

rPath is more of a distro-builder. If you run into any challenges with VMware Server, make sure you drop by the VMTN Forums and they can probably help.
